It's also close to my heart, having been born and raised in the Philippines.
Miss Filipina International is a pageant that annually gathers women of Filipino descent to celebrate their culture and heritage.
More than 10% of Filipinos live outside of their country and, as well-traveled individuals will attest, you'll meet a Filipino in practically any country, big or small. When you do meet Filipinos, you'll know them by their easy-going personalities--We like to think it's because of the island life!
Over the years, many Filipinas have won the crown at prestigious beauty pageants, among them: Gloria Diaz, Margie Moran, Pia Wurtzbach, and Catriona Gray at Miss Universe; Megan Young at Miss World; Gemma Cruz, Aurora Pijaun, Melanie Marquez, Precious Lara Quigaman, Bea Santiago, and Kylie Verzosa for Miss International.
The Filipina beauty defies definition. Each woman has different features that combine to look uniquely stunning. But I believe what makes the Filipina beautiful is something inside that shines through their sincere smiles and clear eyes. Okay, it's also their fun-loving disposition that never passes up a chance to take the mic at karaoke or stand up and dance. But, as cliche as it may sound, the Filipina heart and soul shine through--and that's what makes them even more beautiful.
