Women’s Clothing Trade Shows
Fashion shows are a large part of the fashion industry. Most fashion designers showcase their newest designs in a show of some kind.
There are runway shows, where models walk out and parade the newest collections, and fashion exhibitions, where actual clothes are displayed and people can interact with them.
Both are great ways to promote new designs, get new clients, and gain new followers. Both are also very exclusive- only people with access to the venues or tickets can see the collections or interact with the clothes.
The same can be said for women’s clothing trade shows! Companies spend a lot of money on these displays to promote their brands and new products, but only those with an invite can visit the expo floor.
These companies put a lot of hard work into designing their displays and picking which samples they want to display to get the best exposure. Unfortunately, not all companies can attend these events due to limited space.

While trade shows are an excellent way to network with other businesses and gather new business, as a business owner, you need to be very careful who you share your information with.
There are two main reasons why you should be cautious when meeting new people at these events. The first is because of fake business representatives.
There have been several cases of people stealing the logos and designs of other companies and passing themselves off as a representative from a company.
The second reason is because of the increase in cyber-attacks due to the amount of data being shared at these events. Hackers are always looking for new ways to get information on people and their businesses, making it important to keep your data secure.
Having security measures in place before and during the event will help prevent any hacks or thefts from occurring.
What should I bring to a show?

A lot of newcomers to the fashion world are unsure of what to bring to a trade show. Most people just pack all of their favorite fashion pieces and hope to see them replicated on the runway!
Unfortunately, that is not the case. Runway models are trained to walk in extravagant, elaborate clothes that would not be wearable in real life.
Even then, designers are asked to create pieces that are highly imaginative or use many special effects that could not be replicated in real life.
Such as a fur coat made of paper, or a dress made entirely of jewels. These elements are very difficult to replicate and require further industrialization.
General run-of-the-mill clothing is not very useful at these shows, unfortunately.
Where can I find information about upcoming shows?

One of the best places to start is by looking at fashion show calendars. These are usually published months in advance, so you can always check back for new shows.
Many also have online listings, making it easy to find them. Some even have mobile applications so you can easily access the information while you are attending the show.
Some of the best sites to look at are: Moda Dubai, ModeVE, Fashionnet Show Calendar, and Fashion Week Online.
Some cities have independent sites that publish information about local fashion shows as well, so look out for those if you are interested in only local designers.

While women’s clothing trade shows are a great way to network with other designers and gain inspiration, they can also be overwhelming. There are several things you should expect when attending a show.
You will find a wide range of styles at the show. Although most pieces will be unique, they will all be categorized into different styles. For example, there will be many lingerie looks that showcase many different styles like goth, whimsical, or classic.
There will probably be many samples available for try-ons which is an awesome opportunity! Make sure to take pictures and keep track of which pieces fit you so you can thank the vendors later.
The shows can get very busy so make sure to plan your time wisely.
How can I prepare for a show?
Once you register to attend the show, you will be given access to the show floor where all the brands and products will be available for you to explore.
You can talk with representatives about their products and how to purchase them, or test out their clothing and accessories in their displays. Many companies provide free samples of their merchandise, so be sure to ask!
Prepping for the fashion show part is up to your personal taste. Some like to hang all the clothing on mannequins or hangers, others like to lay the pieces flat on the floor or a table. Some like to pose one item against another, or layer them.
Whatever your preference is, try organizing your clothes in ways that are easy to move around in while still looking nice.
What should I wear to the show?

Although the show is the time to showcase your newest designs, your look can be just as important. If you look like you just came from the beach, or if you look too formal, it can be wrong.
Models typically wear very little clothing and very little makeup. Since the clothes are the focus, her looks are almost identical. Depending on the design, some models even wear no clothing!
Although this is not recommended unless you are a model or part of the show crew, wearing your newest designs is a good way to flaunt your brand.
Depending on the type of show you attend, either very formal or casual clothing is acceptable. If you are not sure, check out what other attendees wear and match slightly higher than them.
Do I need an invitation or ticket?

You will likely need a ticket to enter the show. Usually, you can buy tickets off of sites like Ticketmaster or EventBrite. Many people worry about getting into the show late, but again, this will not prevent you from entering the show. They keep the doors open until all of the booths are empty and everyone has left, so you will have ample time to look around.
If you are still unsure, check with the staff when you get there and they will let you know if you need an invitation or ticket or not!
How much time should I allow for the show?

Since the trade shows can last all day, it is best to plan for a full day event. Many people do this with their friends, so that they can enjoy the experience and fun of the show.
Others may go with their co-workers, allowing them to share what they learned with the company. Still, there are those that go alone, knowing that this is a important part of their business.
Whether you go with someone or not, make sure to take notes and remember what stands out to you. The brands that put in hard work and effort will be remembered!
The length of the show also depends on which season your company chooses to attend the trade show.
